Embroidery Workshop

Sometimes you need to spoil yourself -
I did, when I decided to go to one of Karen Marie's embroidery workshops.

I got started on cross stitch as a teenager. Then I did no cross stitch
for several years until getting interested in the inspiring Zakka world.
The possibility of free hand stitching has tempted me a lot.
I just needed to learn something about the different stitches.
That's why I went to this workshop - 7 hours in imbroidery heaven
with a group of talented crafters.

I still have so much to learn, but now I'm learning.
I hope to mix it with my passion for patchwork.

You must visit Stine's blog - she is knit designer and made
the most wonderful feathers on one of her knit projects.

It started with a pile of tiny  fabric scraps -
and suddenly it was a fabric patchwork puzzle.

I'm unable to throw away fabric scraps -
I love scrappy-happy projects.

I want to go through my fabric stash and do a spring clean,
but I'm not sure, that it will be an easy project....
I started my fabric collection, when I started to work back in 78.
I often wish, that I wasn't a person,
who get too attached to things like fabric and yarn.
Many of my fabrics are held onto for sentimal reasons.

I have already given yarn to a local second hand shop
- it was great!

I want to know, that my treasured fabrics go to good new homes.
Maybe I should make some fabric bundles for sale

wip monday

Scrappy triangle, nine patch, linen and lace -
that's my kind of Monday off.

Working on a coffee cozy for french press.

Quilt - Scrappy Triangles

My second selfish-sewing-week was a success.
Yesterday I finished this Scrappy Triangles Quilt -
and I'm pleased.

When I start a quilt, I usually know,
how I want it to be, but not this time.
I knew for sure, that I wanted to make scrappy triangles,
but I didn't want a quilt full of triangles.

I started out by making the "triangle trees" and then I builded the rest of the quilt with pieces of light colored fabrics.
I choose the wrong side of some of the pieces to get the right expression to the quilt.

The size is app. 110 x 115 cm.

I have been doing a lot of sewing since last weekend.
I have enjoyed every minute of my selfish craft time.
It's been so long, since I allowed myself to forget everything and just sew.

I made six patchwork purses, app. 20 x 11 cm.
I like to use fabric purses for needle books, thread and so -
it's easy to bring with you.

The cheerful cotton prints make me happy.
I enjoy, that we finally got some snow,
but all the colors make me think of spring.

I hope next week will be a selfish-sewing-week too!
All for now - I better rush to my patchwork triangles.

Zakka Saturday

I haven't touched my sewing machine for a very long time.
I really miss it.
I have been thinking of many good things to make,
but no sewing has happened.
Todays first zakka project is a pencil case.

Linen, vintage embroidery, retro apples and a mix
of cotton prints from stash -
leftovers from this quilt
January is always a good month for me to de-stash.
I have bought a new book
I bought it mostly because of this lovely quilt
I'm a big admirer of her quilts.

I have an idea for a new quilt,
but it includes this Butterfly fabric from Moda.
I found it on Etsy, but the shop doesn't ship to Denmark.
Happy Saturday.

My first two FO's

December flew by...
It's definetely true that as we age time flies by faster and faster.
I do my best to live every day to the fullest,
but I must admit, that december was a bit too short for me.
Dear Santa, save December for me next year.
I don't want a lot af challenges in this wonderful month.
After Christmas it was finally time to knit!

Knit project #1
Parrot designed by Marianne Isager
A perfect match with my grey wool coat.
.......and project #2

A baby blanket made of cotton yarn.
I have knitted with two strands of yarn. One strand of common cotton
and one of merserised crochet cotton.
I'm satisfied with the way, the blanket turned out - the color theme and the texture is exactly as I wanted it to be.
I might sell the blanket, since I we don't have any babies or pregnant women in our lives.
I'm ready for a new knit project, but I need inspiration.
I have too many projects on my to-do list.
I'm looking for ideas and inspiration,
so do tell me if you have any suggestions.
